19 of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been earned on hardcourt

A revitalized Medvedev claimed his maiden title for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a difficult period, achieving just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in especial - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with long-time trainer Cervara.

Currently training with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought competitive triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden title since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt after March of the previous year.

The win also means the Russian has won twenty-one victories at twenty-one distinct events.

"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to get a title is especially meaningful," said ranked player Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his past six finals, including in that event in the past months.

His defensive play style and recurring outbursts on court had prompted commentators to question if his capacity to compete at the highest level was concluded.

But the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, making an effort to approach the net and perform assertively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.

Medvedev came back from a break down in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, winning 4 of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.

The competitors traded break points in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his first professional championship, seized the initiative to force a decider.

The opponent defended 4 early-game break points in a tight final set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to secure the win.

Suitably, the winner earned the win with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to control a volley after a lengthy match.
