Power facilities targeted in Ukraine
The country's energy systems have faced escalating strikes in the past few days

Throughout the evening, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have caused blackouts in large parts of Ukraine's capital, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were wounded while residents in the city's east were plunged into darkness and dealt with problems to drinking water, per reports from municipal leaders.

At the same time, a young boy was lost their life in a separate assault in the Zaporizhzhia region in the country's south-east, according to area administrators.

Russian forces has intensified assaults on power infrastructure over recent weeks, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "real steps" from partner nations to increase pressure on Russia.

"What's needed is not symbolic gestures but strong steps - from the United States, European nations and the G7 - in delivering air defence systems and applying penalties," mentioned in a public message.

Officials stated that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and over thirty projectiles struck Ukraine's energy infrastructure, labeling such assaults as "strategic and deliberate" and against "essential services" as temperatures become colder.

Government representatives said Moscow was "conducting extensive attacks" and repair crews were working to repair systems.

A series of attacks struck energy infrastructure and apartment buildings in the capital.

Five out of the nine people injured in the attacks on the capital have been transported for medical care, as confirmed by city authorities.

Local officials said the metropolitan region experienced heavy assaults overnight. A minor was killed and several individuals were wounded.

The attacks succeed evenings of bombing campaigns in the territory, portions of which are occupied by Moscow's military.

The entire country is in a state of readiness for advanced weapon attacks, which are more difficult to detect.

Authorities told reporters that Russia was deliberately attempting to destroy the national power system, with strikes already impacting energy systems.

Officials stated utility staff and government agencies were anticipating more assaults.
